Thomas Edison State College
Trenton, New Jersey
The Kelsey Building, a Nationally Registered historic building by American architect Cass Gilbert, houses the administrative offices for Thomas Edison State College. The College wanted to restore its landmark for the student and staff member. After cleaning, pointing and repairing the brick, the brownstone masonry and the terracotta trim, the renovation transformed the exterior appearance of this historic building.
Clay roof tiles were reset and new copper gutters were fabricated, including the replication of missing copper cornice brackets. The original copper and wood windows were repaired and weather-stripped with new interior storm sash. With additional restoration work on its original doors, gates and clock casing, LWDMR Architects gave this iconic building back its attractive historic beauty.
